Before starting the revolution, Lenin met an artist in Zurich. Both of them were planning to change the world. Only one succeeded, planting the seeds of what would start to happen in the middle of the 20th century. In this lesson you will explore the invisible fist of the cultural revolution. If Art was life and life was art, could everyone be an artist? What happened in the 60's did not happen by chance. The Rolling Stones, John Cage, 2001 Space Odyssey, women burning their bras, were the consequences of an idea that started in the same room in Zurich in Lenin's time. You will explore artists such as Rosemarie Cardoso, Joseph Beuys, Marina Abramovic, ORLAN, Yves Klein, the Guerrilla Girls and understand how canvases, marble and bronze sculptures where no longer the only mediums to manifest what was happening to world. Performances, happenings, installations, among others where created to manifest the cultural revolution that started to occur when we decided to reach for the stars.
